Rouge Room, A New Heaven In Las Vegas

For more romance like Rouge Room, check out Las Vegas trends for bars and bougee spots.

There’s an obsession with “Parisian-style” and “French-style” dining going around in Vegas at the moment.

Some of the best French restaurants in the country call this city home. Past favorites like Pampelmousse shut their doors before I could try them, but their legacies span decades. Even super-American chef Bobby Flay is dipping his toes into the scene.

I’ve also been on a French kick in terms of food, ambiance and learning the language of love. Since I’m also a sucker for anything red velvet — anything except the cupcakes, that is — the grand opening of Rouge Room inside Red Rock Casino continues to rise in the ranks as my new favorite hangout.

Rouge Room: An Instant Classic

Rouge Room is more than a lounge. It brings everything a person can love about fine dining into play, with the added pleasure of romantic European allure. By drenching the whole place in velvet and putting on some seriously vintage airs, the atmosphere is not unlike a swinging watering hole of yesteryear.

in Lieu of Authentic

A point of contention I have with many fine dining establishments is a lackluster wine selection. La Crema, Meiomi, Duckhorn … if you haven’t noticed the monotony, take a look at the uninspired by-the-glass lists at most bars and lounges.

I’m elated to report that Rouge Room is the exact opposite. Their charm is rooted in a largely French wine list, a rarity for the California-dominated selections of its neighboring restaurants.

Rouge’s list features one of the best Pinot Noir vintages I’ve ever had. I go back just to sip on glasses of 2019 Domaine Régis Bouvier at the bar by myself for way too many “treat yourself” moments.

Don’t worry, clear liquor kings and queens — there’s a special treat for you. Make your own cocktail with the table side martini service. Signature tinctures and garnishes are served via martini cart to those looking for that extra Bond-esque touch to the evening.

Blissful Bites

I’m not a foodie in the conventional sense. There’s a market of writers that can speak on the quality and prestige of food with more expertise than I ever will. However, I can recognize amazing cuisine, and Rouge Room serves some stunning dishes.

Wagyu tartare and truffle brioche bites. Croque madame. Seafood towers that deserve their own oil paintings. Ham and cheese croquettes. You get the idea. Not a single bad dish passes through the kitchen doors.

Poolside Pleasure

Not to be forgotten, the Rouge pool deck is the breezy complement to the lounge. Cream bungalows with hints of maroon rest among foliage and signature Vegas palms.

While the waterfront fun is open during the day, Dip du Rouge is the perfect cure for manic Mondays. Starting at 8 PM, this sexy night swim encourages “upscale swimwear” and touts a new-money-meets-Saint-Tropez vibe that lasts well into the evening.

Live Tunes At Rouge Room

Catch live music every Thursday through Sunday night where ballroom singers, piano players and bands ignite the center stage. I’ve witnessed couples and friends jumping up to dance to swinging renditions of Michael Bublé, Florence and the Machine and everything in between.

Bonus: Go for the DJ. Moody Mathers is the white-blonde genius at the turntables. He creates the perfect balance of upbeat, mellow sounds — and you can still hear yourself talk.
